John Cena is set to retire from in-ring competition permanently next month following his final match at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13th. The Stamford-based promotion recently dropped a massive AEW tease on their social media where Cena mentioned AEW's Claudio Castagnoli.

Ever since Cena's retirement tour was announced, fans had been wondering who will face the Cenation leader in his final match. WWE gave the fans their answer by announcing a 16-man Last Time is Now tournament to determine Cena's final opponent.

Cena himself had mentioned that the tournament will also feature stars from other companies. The two stars not signed with WWE who actually appeared in the tournament were Zack Ryder and Dolph Ziggler. Both stars have a long history with the Last Real Champion.

Earlier this year, Cena had actually mentioned the two during his version of the pipebomb promo against CM Punk. He called out Nic Nemeth (Dolph), Matt Cardona (Zack) and Claudio Castagnoli (Cesaro) during the segment.

WWE posted a montage of Cena's aforementioned promo with Zack and Dolph's recent appearances on their X account. Claudio's name was also mentioned in the video for a split second after Dolph hit Solo with a Zig-Zag.

"Seems like they're doing pretty well! @JohnCena's been planting seeds for months!" The caption read.

This was a massive tease as Claudio is signed with WWE's rival promotion All Elite Wrestling. It will be interesting to see who will win the Last Time is Now tournament.

John Cena competed in his last ever RAW match this week

This week's episode of Monday Night RAW marked the final appearance of John Cena on the show as an active performer. He opened the show to address the fans and thank them for their support over the years.

He was interrupted by Dominik Mysterio who demanded a title rematch at Survivor Series. After John Cena accepted Dom's request, he was attacked by his Judgement Day stablemates. Later on, Sheamus and Rey Mysterio came out to save Cena and a 6-man Tag Team match was set between the two teams.

After a fun match filled with incredible spots. Cena , Mysterio and Sheamus picked up the win to close off Cena's Monday Night RAW career.
