Perez Hilton sharply condemned President Donald Trump’s recent remarks targeting six Democratic lawmakers. In a November 21, 2025, article on his website, Hilton reacted to Trump’s statements after the president insisted that the lawmakers were guilty of actions “punishable by DEATH.”

“Donald Trump has said a lot of awful things in the past, but his latest comments toward a group of democrats is a whole new horrifying level,” Hilton wrote

For context, on Tuesday, November 18, six Democratic lawmakers, each of whom previously served in the military or intelligence, released a video message directed at U.S. service members.

In the video, they urged soldiers to ignore any illegal orders and reminded them that they had sworn an oath to the Constitution, not to Donald Trump or “anyone else in the chain of command.”

Trump responded on November 20 with a series of incendiary posts on Truth Social.

In one post, he escalated the rhetoric by accusing the lawmakers of betraying the nation. He framed their reminder about constitutional duty as “seditious behavior at the highest level” and argued that the group should be imprisoned and prosecuted.

“It’s called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL. Their words cannot be allowed to stand - We won’t have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET. President DJT,” he wrote in one of his posts

In a follow-up post, Trump intensified the allegation by asserting that what they had done constituted a capital offense and wrote:

“SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!”

Hilton, responding to the wave of comments on Truth Social, argued that Trump was misrepresenting the lawmakers’ message and using his authority to go after political opponents.

He suggested that it was troubling that the president appeared to want lawmakers, who, as he emphasized, had not said anything illegal or engaged in what he called “seditious behavior”, to be arrested simply because they disagreed with him.

What else did Perez Hilton say about Trump’s posts?

In his website article, Perez Hilton outlined a series of alarming Truth Social posts by President Donald Trump, describing how the president “took things to a whole new scary level” when responding to a video made by six Democratic politicians.

Hilton wrote that Trump’s rhetoric had escalated far beyond typical political criticism as he highlighted another post from Trump where he labeled the Democrats in the video as “traitors” and called for them to be imprisoned.

“This is really bad, and Dangerous to our Country. Their words cannot be allowed to stand. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP??? President DJT” Hilton wrote citing the post

According to Perez Hilton, the escalation did not stop there. He reported that POTUS also re-posted another Truth Social user’s message calling for the execution of the Democrats featured in the video.

“HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD!!” Hilton added, citing the post POTUS had reposted

The podcaster then continued his analysis by explaining that POTUS’s public comments suggesting that political opponents should be executed could encourage violence among his most extreme supporters.

He said the danger lay not only in the rhetoric itself but in how it could be interpreted by individuals looking for justification to act.

“We cannot stress enough how irresponsible and dangerous his threats are in this day and age, especially when politically motivated violence is more prevalent than ever,” Hilton remarked

Perez Hilton also noted that this pattern of behavior had real-world implications. He argued that Trump’s rhetoric could embolden “twisted folks” who might “take his words to heart,” particularly when the president implied that the Democrats had put the country in danger.

Hilton further interpreted POTUS’s language as placing the six politicians, and possibly their families, at risk “all because he didn’t like what they said.” He called the situation fundamentally “not OK,” stressing how rhetoric from the highest office carried enormous weight.

More about the six democratic lawmakers’ video to the military, and their response to Trump

On November 18, Senators Elissa Slotkin and Mark Kelly, along with Representatives Maggie Goodlander, Chris Deluzio, Chrissy Houlahan, and Jason Crow, released a video indirectly criticizing President Donald Trump.

The lawmakers said they wanted their message to reach members of the military and intelligence community who “take risks each day” to keep the country safe.

The group then stressed that they were speaking directly to those serving in high-pressure national-security roles, emphasizing that service members were facing “enormous stress and pressure” and that the longstanding trust Americans place in their military was “at risk.”

The video continued with the lawmakers warning that the current administration was “pitting” uniformed service members and intelligence professionals against American citizens.

They further reminded listeners that military members “swore an oath” to “protect and defend the Constitution,” emphasizing that their oath was to the law, not to any political figure.

They then stressed that threats to the Constitution were coming “from right here at home,” and highlighted that U.S. law clearly allowed service members to “refuse illegal orders.”

They further said:

“But whether you're serving in the CIA. The Army. Our Navy. The Air Force. Your vigilance is critical. And know that we have your back. Because now, more than ever. The American people need you. We need you to stand up for our laws. Our Constitution. And who we are as Americans,”

Two days later, after Trump posted an angry response to the video on Truth Social, the six Democrats issued a joint statement on November 20.

In it, they identified themselves as “veterans and national security professionals” and explained that their oath to protect the Constitution was a lifelong commitment. They emphasized that no form of intimidation, including what they interpreted as threats, would stop them from fulfilling that oath.

They wrote:

“We are veterans and national security professionals who love this country and swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. That oath lasts a lifetime, and we intend to keep it. No threat, intimidation, or call for violence will deter us from that sacred obligation.”

In their statement, the lawmakers argued that what they found most alarming was the president’s apparent belief that their act of simply “restating the law” should be “punishable by death.”

Their explanation underlined that service members needed reassurance that they were supported in following only “lawful orders,” calling this not just their responsibility but their “duty.”

The statement ended with a broader, more emotional appeal. They insisted that their message was not personal and “not about politics,” but about defending core American values. They urged the country to unite and reject what they described as the president’s “calls for…murder and political violence,” stressing that this was a moment requiring “moral clarity.”

In their conclusion, they wrote:

“In these moments, fear is contagious, but so is courage. We will continue to lead and will not be intimidated. Don’t Give Up the Ship!”

So far, Trump has not issued a response to the joint statement of the six democrats who made the video.
