Will Nick Chubb play in Week 10? What we know about Texans RB's injury

2 hours ago 3

The Houston Texans have an injury concern at the running back position going into their Week 10 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Running back Nick Chubb has popped up on the injury report this week with a foot issue, which now leaves his status in question for Sunday's AFC South showdown.

Of course, this is far from the only injury issue the Texans have, as quarterback C.J. Stroud has already been ruled out due to a concussion, and guys like Tytus Howard, Ka'imi Fairbairn and Denico Autry are not practicing, either.

Here's what we know about Chubb thus far.

Will Nick Chubb play in Week 10?

No concrete answer yet, but judging from the fact that Chubb did not practice on Wednesday, there is reason for concern.

Chubb has been durable this season, but his career has been marred by injury, so it felt inevitable that he would miss at least one game. It looks like this could be the week.

However, it's important to note that a veteran like Chubb doesn't need to practice to play. We should also point out that there are two more days in the practice week, so there's still ample time for Chubb to get right.

We'll know more on Thursday, when the Texans drop their second injury report, but right now it isn't looking good.

Who is Nick Chubb's handcuff

Chubb doesn't necessarily have a handcuff at this point since he has been splitting work fairly evenly with rookie Woody Marks, who would be in line for a massive workload if Chubb sits.

Marks has slowly ascended from a very small role to start the season, to about a 50/50 split with Chubb over the last five contests. We wouldn't be shocked to see Marks completely take control of this backfield at some point.

We would typically consider Marks an RB2 play because of volume if Chubb sits, but everyone on Houston's offense gets a downgrade with Davis Mills set to start, so consider Marks a high-end flex play with upside.
