Steph Curry struggled in the Golden State Warriors' 124-106 win against the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday, Nov. 16. Curry only put up nine points on 2-of-11 shooting from the field on top of five rebounds, three assists, and four turnovers after playing 28 minutes.

This came after he exploded for 46 and 49 points, respectively, in their last two games against the San Antonio Spurs.

Curry's latest performance caught the attention of NBA fans, who pointed out how such performances held Curry back in the GOATs conversations.

This is why I will never take curry in goat talks seriously because he puts up stinkers like this all the time but it’s crickets when he does it but imagine if LeBron puts up less than 15 points in his return game, he would literally get torn apart by the media 💀

@BronGotGame This the guy that’s better than LeBron? Lmaooooo 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

@BronGotGame Weren’t they just screaming “goat” the last few days? lol short lived

Meanwhile, others came to Curry's defense, feeling that he doesn't need to score as much as other stars every night, since his teammates are capable of contributing.

@BronGotGame we dont statpad up 20 unlike somebody..

@BronGotGame Double digit streak not for everyone

@BronGotGame Who cares he’s the goat nigga didn’t even try we were up 20+

Curry averages 29.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game this season, leading the Warriors to a 9-6 record. The Warriors are also riding on a three-game winning streak after the victory against the Pelicans.

Curry has scored 40 or more points in three games this season. His nine-point performance against the Pelicans was his only single-digit output this season.

Moses Moody led the Warriors against the Pelicans with 32 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field, followed by Jimmy Butler's 18 points.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr contrasts Steph Curry and Michael Jordan's mindsets

Michael Jordan has long been regarded as the greatest player of all time. While Curry remained outside of that conversation, his coach Steve Kerr, who also played alongside Jordan, believed they had a similar mindset.

Talking to the Glue Guys podcast last August, Kerr said that Curry and Jordan share the same mindset but approach it differently.

"It’s the most amazing mindset that I’ve ever seen, Michael had a similar mindset," said Kerr. "But Michael’s mindset appeared to be more of a desire to kill an opponent, to just stick the knife in and twist it. Steph is more about the joy of the act of shooting the ball. You know, and that’s what makes it so beautiful to watch Steph." "They’re similar in their self-confidence. I think Michael’s much more calculating. I don’t think Steph’s so calculating, I just think his ability to get into the rhythm, into the flow, into the zone, psychologically, emotionally, however you want to say it, was so unique."

Curry is now in his 17th season in the NBA and is looking for his fifth NBA championship.

Curry and the Warriors will return to action against the Orlando Magic on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
