The Miami Dolphins continue to be on a second-choice kicker.
Riley Patterson retains the job as the Dolphins head into Week 9 and a Thursday Night Football clash with the Baltimore Ravens.
It's sort of by default that Patterson is kicking right now for Miami.

Why is Riley Patterson the Dolphins' kicker?
Patterson is Miami's kicker because first-choice Jason Sanders is injured.
Sanders was initially injured during preseason warmups before their final game in August, hurting his hip.
He was placed on Injured Reserve with a designation to return, but he has yet to come back.
Patterson has been the kicker in all eight of the Dolphins' games so far.
Through those eight games, Patterson is 11-for-12 kicking field goals. His long is only 47 yards, although in his NFL career he has made a kick from 53 yards and four different kicks from 52 yards, so he's got a solid leg.

Patterson is also 19-for-19 on extra points this season.
The 26-year old Patterson has kicked for six different NFL teams, including three different teams in 2024.
The Sanders injury has allowed Patterson to have a little stability, and he's been quite consistent when the Dolphins have called on him.
It seems Sanders would get his job back if and when he returns, but right now that's still a waiting game, and so Patterson will continue to do his thing.
