Why Giants have a new lefty kicker Ben Sauls instead of Younghoe Koo

The New York Giants had their fourth kicker of the season take the field on Sunday.

This one was a lefty, Ben Sauls.

Sauls made a short field goal to get on the board in his NFL career, too.

Sauls took over for Younghoe Koo, who took over for Jude McAtamney, who took for Graham Gano.

Why do the Giants have new kicker Ben Sauls?

The Giants have Sauls kicking because they cut Koo, and he was already on the practice squad to be the replacement.

Koo simply hadn't been quite good enough for the Giants.

He missed two field goals on Sunday (both from 50-plus yards).

He was 4-for-6 on field goals with the Giants and 11-for-12 on extra points. It wasn't an awful performance, but nothing Koo did convinced the Giants that he'd be their kicker long-term.

It's the second time Koo has been cut this season, after the Falcons did it after Week 2.

Sauls now gets his chance to prove he can be an NFL kicker.
