The New York Giants added a former Chicago Bears defender in NFL free agency.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Bears are signing linebacker Tremaine Edmunds to a three-year deal worth $36 million, with $23.7 million fully guaranteed.
"The #Giants are signing standout LB Tremaine Edmunds to a 3-year, $36M deal with $23.7M fully guaranteed, sources tell me and Mike Garafolo," Rapoport said.
Why Giants are signing linebacker Tremaine Edmunds
The Giants released 2025 starting linebacker Bobby Okereke ahead of free agency, so linebacker was a need.
That need has now been filled with Edmunds, who has started 119 games since entering the league in 2018 and will now patrol the middle of New York's defense.
It can be argued that Edmunds is an upgrade over Okereke at linebacker, so this signing should prove to be a solid one for the Giants.
