Jets trade rumor reveals interest in possible blockbuster deal with Jaguars

The New York Jets need help at wide receiver and the Jacksonville Jaguars might be able to provide some for them.

According to SNY's Connor Hughes, the Jacksonville Jaguars are open to trading wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., which is a change in their previous stance when Jacksonville didn't have any interest in dealing him last year.

"The Jaguars are entertaining offers for WR Brian Thomas, SNY has learned," Hughes reported.

In the wake of that news, ESPN's Rich Cimini says that he believes the Jets are exploring a trade for the former first-round pick.

"The talent is there and he's on a team-friendly deal for two more years. Worth a shot if the compensation is reasonable. I believe the Jets are exploring," Cimini reported.

Thomas exploded onto the scene during his rookie campaign in 2024, tallying 87 receptions for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns, which put him on a superstar trajectory.

But things went off the rails for Thomas in 2025, when he caught just 48 passes for 707 yards and two touchdowns while struggling with injury, drops and overall ineffective play.

That said, he is still just 23 years old and there is such a thing as a sophomore slump, so better days could be ahead.

There's no doubt the Jets should be interested in Thomas, who is still young and on a rookie deal.

New York does not have much at wide receiver, with the room being led by Garrett Wilson and Adonai Mitchell, the latter of whom the jury is still out on.

Of course, we have no clue who will actually be throwing them the football, but a one-two punch of Wilson and Thomas may end up being one of the better ones in the NFL if Thomas can rebound in New York.
