The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in a fight with Super Bowl contenders when it comes to keeping star receiver Mike Evans.
With the star weapon set to become a free agent, the Buccaneers will be in direct competition against teams that Evans has on his reported checklist.
Given that Evans is pursuing a Super Bowl, does that mean the Buccaneers are out as a potential candidate? You could easily make that assumption, because you can say, at least right now, Tampa isn't in the Super Bowl conversation.
But ESPN's Jeremy Fowler has offered a glimmer of hope that the Bucs could sign Evans, but it's not much.
"The Tampa Bay Buccaneers remain aggressive in attempting to re-sign Mike Evans,” Fowler wrote. “Tampa remains in a good spot with Evans but is not a lock to sign him.”

Buccaneers still in play for Evans
This will be a classic head vs. heart for Evans.
If he goes with his head, he will be leaving the Buccaneers in search of a Super Bowl, because, let's be honest, they aren't close.
But if he goes with his heart, he will stay in Tampa, because he's been there his entire career, is a staple of the team, and a franchise legend.
Whichever decision Evans makes, it won't be easy, and right now, the chances of him staying in Tampa Bay are the same as him leaving.
