What is Tron: Ares about?
The film's plot follows a highly advanced program named Ares, who is sent on a dangerous mission by his creators at Dillinger Systems. They have invented a way to bring digital objects into the physical world, but there is a catch: these objects only last for 29 minutes before they vanish.
To overcome this limit, both Dillinger Systems and ENCOM are racing to unlock the Permanence Code, a breakthrough that would allow digital beings to survive permanently outside the Grid. Ares is sent into the real world as Dillinger’s most powerful tool in this technological arms race.
To make this transition permanent, Ares is sent to find a secret called the Permanence Code. During his mission, Ares crosses paths with Eve Kim, the head of ENCOM, who believes the technology should be used responsibly rather than as a weapon. As Ares interacts with humans and experiences life beyond the Grid, he begins to question his purpose and the intentions of those who created him.
Once designed as a precise and emotionless program, Ares slowly develops self-awareness, forcing him to confront a critical choice: remain a controlled asset in a corporate power struggle, or assert his own autonomy in a world that fears what he represents.
