The Minnesota Vikings will be among the most unpredictable teams for tonight’s Day 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Vikings hold pick No. 24 overall in the first round, and with few glaring roster needs, they could prioritize the chance to add another young impact player to go with 2024 first-rounders J.J. McCarthy and Dallas Turner.
But with just four total selections in this draft, the fewest of any NFL team, Minnesota is also considered a serious trade-back candidate, with potential to move outside of the first round altogether with an eye on recouping some much-needed draft capital.
That could make things tough for Vikings fans hoping to see their team’s selection on TV before hitting the pillow.
The draft’s first round is one of the major TV events on the annual sports calendar, and selections are spread out accordingly to allow for analysis, reactions and interviews. Teams will be given 10 minutes between picks, and for the most part, those intervals hold true during the event. While the draft is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, the Tennessee Titans aren’t expected to make their selection of Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward official until approximately 7:19 p.m.
Based on projections from James Coleman of the Palm Beach Post, the Vikings should be making their selection at approximately 10:04 p.m. local time, which should allow most fans to tune in while still getting enough beauty rest for the final day of the work week.

The draft will resume on Friday with Rounds 2 and 3, also starting at 7 p.m. Teams will have seven minutes between selections in the second round, and five minutes in the third round, so it could once again be a long wait for the Vikings and their fans.
Minnesota currently holds one pick, No. 97 overall, on Day 2. So unless the team does opt to trade back in Round 1, the Vikings won’t be on the clock until the sixth-to-last pick of Friday night's coverage.
