Thursday marks the beginning of the 2025 NFL Draft, as 32 players were selected and had their dreams come true. Players from all across the country found out where they’ll be beginning their NFL careers, as plenty more will follow over the next two days. While some teams drafted for need, some took the best available. Regardless, all 32 of the selections will warrant analysis over the next several hours before the rest of the draft continues.
Selecting 12th overall, the Dallas Cowboys looked to address their need on the offensive line after Zach Martin’s retirement by drafting Alabama guard Tyler Booker. The First Team All-American and two-time All-SEC selection will head to Dallas to block for Dak Prescott, but his fit on the team is far from the most interesting storyline there.
As pointed out online by Ari Meirov, the Cowboys' projected starting offensive line is set to feature three Tylers, all of whom are also first round picks. With the aforementioned Booker, the other Tylers are Tyler Smith and Tyler Guyton. Smith was the 24th pick in 2022, while Guyton was the 29th pick in 2024.
With those three first round linemen, the Cowboys will be looking for them to help bring back the dominant offensive lines of the past in Dallas. Featuring the likes of Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, and Zach Martin in years past, Dallas was at their best when it could protect their quarterback and pave the way for their running backs.
Even though they now have three Tylers on their offensive line, the Cowboys could potentially add another Tyler to the team in this year’s draft with others on the board. Cowboys are back on the clock on Friday with the 44th overall pick.
