The New York Giants had an eye on the future late in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
After adding Penn State star edge rusher Abdul Carter with the No. 3 overall pick, the Giants made a big move to grab their potential franchise quarterback.
In a deal with the Houston Texans, the Giants moved up to the No. 25 overall pick from No. 34, taking Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart.
While the future has a bit more hope, Dart won't be on the field right away. Instead, head coach Brian Daboll reiterated that veteran Russell Wilson will be the starter for the 2025 season, barring a change.
"Russ will be our starter and that's how it will be once we get started here in the spring," Daboll said Thursday night following Round 1 of the draft.

While Dart brings some intrigue in terms of the upside he has if he can develop his game, the general consensus is that the battle-tested SEC product needs time to acclimate to the NFL life.
Daboll is fighting for his job in 2025 so he's not taking any chances when it comes to rushing a young quarterback onto the field before he's ready.
