It's a beautiful day in the baseball world: Opening Day for most of MLB's teams is Thursday.
That includes the New York Mets, who are hosting the Pittsburgh Pirates in a highly anticipated afternoon game that will be broadcast on NBC.
Much of the hype is generated by the pitching matchup: It's new Mets ace Freddy Peralta taking the ball for his New York debut, and he's being opposed by reigning Cy Young winner Paul Skenes.
Runs could be at a premium, but regardless, fans will simply be glad to have baseball back in their lives for the next six-plus months.

Opening Day does come with one tricky aspect -- the festivities. The games rarely start at the time you expect, because players are introduced and there is more pomp and circumstance than usual.
That will likely be the case for the Mets-Pirates matchup, and for games all around the majors on Thursday.

What time does Mets-Pirates actually start?
Everything official lists the Mets-Pirates start time as 1:15 p.m. ET.
There's always the potential for that to drag a bit, but it certainly isn't planned to start at 1:00 or 1:05.
Hopefully that time is accurate, because this is the first game of the day and everyone wants to tune in for Skenes and Peralta.
It should be a lot of fun, whatever time the first pitch is actually thrown.
