The New York Knicks have been off to a solid 9-5 start this season, but their backcourt depth may have taken a hit as Landry Shamet suffered an injury on Saturday. Such was the pain endured by Shamet that he immediately exited the Knicks' road game against the Orlando Magic.
At the 9:17 mark of the first quarter, with the Knicks up 8-2, Shamet hounded Jalen Suggs as the Magic point guard tried to cross the halfcourt line. Wendell Carter Jr. went to set a screen for Suggs, but Shamet did not see Carter coming, resulting in an ugly collision.

All three men tumbled to the floor, and the first to get up was Shamet, who grabbed his right shoulder. Wincing in pain, he immediately walked towards the locker room area of the Kia Center.

Later on, the Knicks provided an update on Shamet, and it was an unwelcome development for New York fans.
"Landry Shamet (right shoulder) is out for the remainder of the game," the Knicks PR team tweeted. "Miles McBride (illness) is questionable for the game."Landry Shamet (right shoulder) is out for the remainder of the game. Miles McBride (illness) is questionable for the game.
Shamet sustained the injury in the same shoulder that he dislocated prior to the 2024-25 season. Days after Shamet dislocated his shoulder, he was waived by the Knicks, who would eventually sign him in December 2024.
This season, the 28-year-old age is averaging 9.9 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. He has also been playing 22.2 minutes per game, even getting five starting nods under new Knicks head coach Mike Brown.
Hollywood star sends well wishes to Landry Shamet after apparent shoulder injury
For what it's worth, a Hollywood A-lister sent well wishes to Shamet on social media after his brutal collision with Carter Jr.
Ben Stiller, a renowned Knicks fan, posted a one-sentence tweet in the wake of Shamet's apparent shoulder injury.
"Good thoughts for Landry Shamet," Stiller tweeted.Good thoughts for Landry Shamet 🙏
In the same way that Jack Nicholson has been a fixture at Lakers games for years, it has been a common sight to see Stiller cheering on the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. During the Knicks' 2025 playoff run, Stiller was spotted alongside fellow A-lister Timothee Chalamet and hip hop star 50 Cent.
