What happened to Kyle Busch? Why NASCAR star isn't racing at Charlotte this weekend

Kyle Busch was slated to join the rest of his NASCAR Cup Series competitors at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend.

There has been a change of plans, though.

Busch has now been taken off the docket and won't be competing.

What happened to Kyle Busch?

Busch has been hospitalized with an illness.

His team released this statement on Thursday:

“Kyle has experienced a severe illness resulting in hospitalization. He is currently undergoing treatment and will not compete in any of his scheduled activities this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. We ask for understanding and privacy as our family navigates this situation.”

Busch only has won win in his career at Charlotte, and that was in the 2017 All-Star Race.

His best finish at the Coca Cola 600, which is this weekend, was also in 2017, when he placed second.

The field will still have plenty of star power without Busch, but he has a lot of fans who will be disappointed to not see him on the track.

In reality, they'll all be hoping that everything is OK and that Busch heals up to make a return at some point in the near future.
