Liverpool fans are delighted with the win over Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, but have called out Mohamed Salah for his poor display. Many believe that the Egyptian has failed to turn up once again for the Reds and needs to be dropped from the starting XI.
Arne Slot named Salah in the starting XI after dropping him in the last two Champions League matches. However, the forward could not get on the scoresheet once again, after breaking his goalless run in the 2-0 Premier League win over Aston Villa.
Liverpool still managed to get the win with Alexis Mac Allister getting the lone goal of the game. The Reds dominated the game, but the fans have pointed fingers at Salah again, and many posted:
Thank god Salah didnt score there, would have been typical to hide an horrendous performance AGAIN #LIVRMA
Salah ignoring Wirtz again. I’m so over it
Salah should have been taken off, has been awful again
Salah should never be in the starting 11 again
Salah again not passing to him bruh
We sold this demon [Luis Diaz] and instead we’re stuck with the ghost of Salah
Salah spoke to the media earlier this month, admitting it had been a tricky season for the club. He added the new signings need time to adapt to the tactics and said (via LiverpoolECHO):
"No, but I know football. I have played football for many years. I said at the beginning it is a very tricky season for us, we have a few new players, very good signings, but they need time to adapt to the team and we lost a few good players as well. We just need time to adapt and know each other's games and we will be fine."Liverpool's win over Real Madrid saw them go level on points with the Spanish side.
Mohamed Salah needs to be dropped from Liverpool XI, said Paul Scholes
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes spoke about Liverpool star Mohamed Salah last month, urging Arne Slot to drop the Egyptian. He believes that the ugly side of the forward was catching the eye of all the fans and said on the Stick To Football podcast:
"Of course, Salah should [be dropped if he isn't performing]. He's not playing very well. I always thought that even when he was scoring goals, he looks ugly at times. Some of the stuff he'd do, the ball would bounce off his legs, he would do some of the worst stuff you'd see from a forward. When you stop scoring goals, all of that comes into focus. Slot will have to leave him out at some point [if it continues]. Sometimes it's a good thing being left out too."Mohamed Salah has scored five goals in all competitions this season, in his 14 appearances for the Reds.
