We now know how bad Warriors guard Moses Moody's knee injury is

The Golden State Warriors are in a very rough spot. They have fought hard enough to get into the NBA Play-In Tournament but not quite sufficient for the NBA Playoffs. Coach Steve Kerr and Co. now have a dilemma of whether they would want to make a deep postseason run without Stephen Curry. More than that, it looks like they are also not going to have Moses Moody any time soon.

Moody's best Warrior season comes crashing

The fix that Coach Kerr had to replace Curry was to field their plethora of guards. It worked out well with Brandin Podziemski finally maturing into a great facilitator and Moody either playing shooting guard or on the wings. Unfortunately, Moody crashed hard in a non-contact injury during their 137-131 win over the Dallas Mavericks. It was very clear that his knee twisted but now Warriors fans know what type of injury he is suffering.

Moody suffered a torn patellar tendon in his left knee, per Shams Charania of ESPN. The Warriors will rule him out immediately and it looks like he will also be out for a long time. He is required to go through a very lengthy injury rehabilitation process which affects the Warriors' guard depth negatively. It usually takes six to 12 months to recover from this injury and also an extended amount of time until he officially gets back on an NBA court.

Notably, Moody was having an insane season with the Warriors. He is averaging a career-high with 12.1 points alongside a very efficient 44% clip from the field. Not to mention, a bit of Curry has also rubbed off on him because of his 40.1% three-point percentage while taking about 6 shots per game.

On the defensive side of things, the Warriors have also started to lean on him before his injury against the Mavericks. Moody has notched a career-best average of a steal per game. He also has been great at finishing possessions well for the Warriors to get an advantage. His 3.3 rebounds per game is proof of this. It's hard to see him go down at what was his best Warriors season so far. Hopefully, Coach Kerr and their medical staff are able to help him bounce back next season.
