John Cena is set to retire next month. A legendary 60-time WWE champion has given his thoughts on Cena's retirement.

At Saturday Night's Main Event next month, John Cena will wrestle his final WWE match. His opponent for the show will be determined in a Last Time is Now Tournament, which will feature stars from RAW, SmackDown, and NXT. The tournament will also feature stars from outside the company. Cena's retirement tour has been a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs. He got to share the ring with many familiar names. One man who got to be involved in Cena's retirement tour is R-Truth. These two men locked horns twice when Cena turned heel during the first half of 2025.

During a recent appearance on Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling, R-Truth called Cena's retirement "bittersweet." He also acknowledged that Cena is getting to go out on his own terms, and fans aren't done seeing him.

“It’s bittersweet. Because every ride comes to a stop right? We all have to jump off a ride at some time whether we like it or not. We have to. And sometime it’s good to be able to jump off that ride and walk into the sunset and hop on an another one. Sometime it’s good to do that, a lot of the time it’s good to do that. It’s best he’s able to do it his own way. He’s able to go out on his own terms. You can’t get no better than that, to leave such an impression on people and in people’s lives and on the business and to be able to walk off into the sunset and ride another horse. We ain’t done seeing him, he’s just retiring from this walk of life now. So I think it’s awesome. My hat’s off to him, I won’t stop applauding him.” [H/T WrestleTalk]

John Cena finally became a Grand Slam Champion on WWE RAW

John Cena won several titles in the WWE. He is a multi-time World Champion, a former United States Champion, and a former Tag Team Champion. Despite these accolades, he wasn't a Grand Slam Champion because he didn't win the Intercontinental Championship. However, that changed on RAW.

After Dominik Mysterio interrupted John Cena's segment in front of the latter's home crowd, Triple H booked the former to defend his title against The Last Real Champion. Despite Dirty Dom's crooked ways, Cena was able to win the Intercontinental Championship. By doing so, he became a Grand Slam Champion in WWE.

It remains to be seen if Cena will lose the title before he retires next month.
