Watch: Fernando Alonso hilarious trolling the FIA for taking no action against Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc for their first lap antics

Fernando Alonso took a dig at the FIA during the 2025 Mexico GP when he saw Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen cut corners. Alonso's dig came after the two aforementioned drivers' first lap antics came to light.

The recently concluded race at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez saw Verstappen and Leclerc jockey for track positions, and as a result, the two drivers cut corners to gain an advantage over each other. Seeing this on the big screen, Alonso took the dig.

Taking to his team radio, the Aston Martin driver told his race engineer:

"I've seen the replay (of the track excursions) on the circuit screens. Question for Race Direction: Can I SKIP curves 2 and 3 to overtake like they do, or should I stay on the track better?"

Besides Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton also tried the same tactic against the Dutch driver. However, he was given a 10-second time penalty by the FIA.

As for Leclerc and Verstappen, they were spared because of the first lap melee, and Verstappen returned the track position. In the end, Lando Norris won the race, ahead of Leclerc and Verstappen.

On the other hand, Fernando Alonso's race ended in a DNF after the Aston Martin man had to retire just after Lap 37. Alonso's teammate, Lance Stroll, finished his race in P14.

Fernando Alonso was furious after Lap 1 melee, revealed Aston Martin engineer

Aston Martin trackside engineer, Mike Krack, touched upon the first lap melee at the Mexico GP and stated how Fernando Alonso was unhappy about it. Speaking to the media after the race, here's what Krack said:

"Here we have a tradition that on the first lap, Turn 1 is a bloodbath. There were penalties; I suppose the FIA will critically review what happened. But yes, Fernando was very angry about how things went through turn one. If you look at the on-board cameras, he had already overtaken several cars that then came out well ahead of him. So I can understand his point of view." "At turn one, it sometimes seems like everyone is doing whatever they want and you can get away with it, and I’m sure many of you agree. It’s not easy to know where everything came from or who is responsible, what constitutes a racing incident or who is at fault. It’s difficult, and I understand why the FIA doesn’t want to make mistakes in these situations. Fernando Alonso is currently in P12 in the Drivers' Championship with 37 points. His teammate, Lance Stroll, is in P14 with 32 points. Aston Martin are in P7 in the Constructors' Championship with 69 points.
