Warriors predicted to trade $24.9 million wing to 76ers for draft assets

The Philadelphia 76ers are beginning to enter dangerous territory as far as making the playoffs is concerned.

Philadelphia is now 2-10 on the season, and while Joel Embiid has returned for the last two games, Embiid looks remarkably out of shape.

Paul George hasn’t looked quite like himself as he works his way back into mid-season form. George is averaging a solid 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game in six games, but Philadelphia will need him to produce more, especially with Tyrese Maxey missing time.

The 76ers are thanking their lucky stars that rookie Jared McCain has exploded onto the scene as a top Rookie of the Year candidate averaging 14.8 points per game on 40.3 percent shooting from three. Without McCain, Philly would have virtually nothing to smile about.

Looking ahead to February’s trade deadline, everyone assumes that 76ers GM Daryl Morey will be among the most active buyers on the market.

A new report from Hoops Habit’s Cal Durrett asserted on Sunday that Morey could go after Jonathan Kuminga of the Golden State Warriors. Kuminga is in the final year of his $24.9 million rookie deal and promises to be sought after by teams like the LA Clippers and Brooklyn Nets.

“With Embiid's health up in the air and the Sixers losing ground to the red-hot Cleveland Cavaliers and the stacked Boston Celtics, they are reportedly looking to make a major deal to try and keep pace,” Durrett said.

“Unlike many playoff teams, the Sixers actually have plenty of trade assets after the James Harden deal netted them two first-round picks, a first-round pick swap, and a second-round pick.”

“The Sixers also have most of their own selections, which would help them make a big in-season trade. While they don't have much in the way of expendable salary, they could package Kenyon Martin Jr. and another player to acquire a key player to help them this season. One such option could include Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga, whom they have already been linked to.”

Is Kuminga the guy who could help keep things afloat in Philadelphia?
