Lions could put nail in Doug Pederson's, Trent Baalke's coffin with Jaguars, per insider

The Detroit Lions will look to capture their ninth victory of the season on Sunday, as the team will host the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars at Ford Field in Week 11. The Lions currently have sole possession of first place in the NFC North and the No.1 seed in the NFC.

One of the primary reasons for the Lions franchise turnaround over the last few years has been the excellent general manager and head coach duo the team boasts. General manager Brad Holmes has done a fantastic job rebuilding this roster and finding pivotal pieces in the draft, while head coach Dan Campbell has been the driving factor of the culture shift in the Motor City.

Though the Lions hit on their hires at the positions, the Jaguars haven't had the same luck, as general manager Trent Baalke and head coach Doug Pederson have severely underperformed, earning just one playoff win as a duo and failing to produce consistent winning football.

With the Jaguars sitting at 2-8 heading into Week 11, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport believes the team is headed for another regime change, and Sunday's matchup versus the Lions could be the final game of the Pederson and Baalke era in Jacksonville if things go poorly in Detroit.

"The Jaguars, mired in a miserable rut after losing four of their last five games, might be looking at another regime change for 2025, and sources say a dramatic move could come as soon as this week, pending the results of Sunday's game against the Lions."

"Inside the building, several sources say change, including the organization potentially moving on from Doug Pederson and general manager Trent Baalke, would not be a surprise. Based on several conversations, while Jaguars staffers are still working and grinding, there is a pall permeating the situation. A doom."

You never want to see someone lose their job, but it's time for significant change in Jacksonville. Baalke and Pederson have a record of 4-13 in the last 17 games and have regressed since a successful 2022 season when the Jaguars won the AFC South and posted an improbable comeback victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card round.
