The Tauron Strike mechanic gives all of Warframe's Focus schools a third ability to work with, and each of these are tied into unique bonuses. Tauron Strikes are enabled for free when you're playing the Perita Rebellion game mode, but to use them anywhere else, you need to unlock Tektolyst Artifacts.
In this guide, we'll show what each of these do, how to get them, and where they'd be useful.
How to get Tektolyst Artifacts and enable Tauron Strikes in Warframe
Buy these Artifacts from Marie, but pick wisely (Image via Digital Extremes)As we mentioned before, you get to use Tauron Strikes outside Perita only after you unlock a Tektolyst Artifact. There are five that you can purchase from Marie in La Cathedrale (Sanctum Anatomica) once you've beaten The Old Peace quest:
- Lorak (the Grimoire) unlocks Zenurik Tauron Strike nodes
- Thara (the Bow) unlocks Madurai Tauron Strike nodes
- Vexoric (the Greatsword) unlocks Naramon Tauron Strike nodes
- Cogron (the Hammer) unlocks Uniaru Tauron Strike nodes
- Nidri (the Staff) unlocks Vazarin Tauron Strike nodes
How to purchase Tektolyst Artifacts from Marie
Each of them cost 150 Lyroic Bridge, 150 Ren Hypercore, and 150 Ascaris Prime. All three are resources obtainable from one of the three wars available thorugh Perita Rebellion:
- The Hunhullus boss drops 10 Lyroic Bridge
- The Dactolyst boss drops 10 Ren Hypercores
- The Commandeered Prime Vanguard drop 10 Ascaris Primes after they're all defeated
On top of this, the count is increased by one more for each Order you complete in the 12 minutes prior to the boss showdown during the Perita Rebellion missions.
During these missions, you will also ocassionally face a singular Commandeered Prime Warframe. On the Steel Path mode, they drop 2 Lyroic Bridges, Ren Hypercores, or Ascaris Primes on death every time.
The Old Peace quest also gives you 75x of each of these resources to give you a head start. However, after that point, you just need to grind it out over time. It's possible that these resources will be obtainable from future Tau content coming to Warframe in 2026, but we don't have specific confirmation on that.
Overall, the process is grindy, so pick your first Tektolyst Artifact wisely. We have provided some recommendations on what's the strongest ones right now below.
How to cast Tauron Strike in Warframe, and what does it do?
While each Tektolyst Artifact in Warframe is themed after a different weapon type, they are just differently flavored variation of one ultimate attack you have to charge up by killing enemies (but you don't need to do it in Drifter/Operator mode thankfully).
The gist is that each enemy kill fills up the meter just slightly, but picking up a Convergence Orb gives you a big amount of charge immediately, plus a buff that increases charges gained per enemy killed.
Certain passive nodes on the respective Focus school, as well as equipping Focus Lenses, increases how easily you finish charging. Realistically, you can charge it quite fast via Convergence Orbs with multiple lenses on your loadout.
- Enemy Kills: By default, each enemy killed gives you 0.2% charge (you need 100% charge to be able to cast Tauron Strike once). All kills scored by you and your allies in affinity range count towards this.
- Convergence Orb: Picking up a Convergence Orb gives you a flat 20% fill out of this 100%. Afterwards, you also get 5x charge from each kill scored as long as the Convergence buff is active.
- Lens bonus: Each Focus Lens in your loadout increases the charges only from killing enemies by 0.1x. So, with just one Focus Lens equipped on any one weapon, you would gain 0.22% charge per enemy killed, for example.
- The bonus from Lenses also apply to Convergence Orb pickups. So, if you have 4 Lenses equipped on your loadout for example, you get 28% of your meter filled with just one Orb pikcup.
The circle towards the right of your energy bar (which previously indicated Operator energy level) now shows your progress towards charging up the Tauron Strike in Warframe.
So, what does the Tauron Strike really do after you do cast it?
Expect a lot of damage, but the passives afterwards are the important part (Image via Digital Extremes)Each weapon has its own flavor of Tauron Strike, and then some aftereffects. The actual AoE and the way through which the damage is distributed varies between each Tektolyst Artifact.
As of right now, we don't know how Tau Strike damage is calculated in Warframe, but it seems to scale based on your current Amp damage. We have reached out to Digital Extremes for some clarification, and we'll update the article based on what we learn from that.
From my testing, it seems to not be affected by some of the ability-based Amp-buffing effects, such as Madurai Void Strike's crit boost. However, the damage is overall pretty good for base-level Steel Path enemies. Thara, the Madurai bow, seems to be the strongest overall, because it has a lot of lingering damage for room-wide clear, and even the initial damage is no joke (I was using a standard x77 Amp for this).
It takes a long time to charge up the Tauron Strike in Warframe, though, so in many cases the bigger prize is the passives that come after. Unsurprisingly, these are only unlocked through the Focus School tree, via the new passive nodes - so there's some more Focus grind left yet, after all.
These passives, as well as the attack type of the Tauron Strikes themselves, have been discussed below.
All Tauron Strike passives in Warframe
Each of these require Focus and Perita boss tokens to spec (Image via Digital Extremes)Whenever you buy a specific Tektolyst Artifact in Warframe, it unlocks five additional passive nodes on the aligned Focus School's skill tree. The connective node for these will be the specific Tauron Strike for that weapon, and the first level of this will be automatically unlocked after you've bought the Artifact from Marie.
The later levels, as well as all other Passive Nodes, must be unlocked with Focus of that School, plus a small amount of materials from Perita Rebellion bosses (Lyroic Bridge, Ren Hypercore, Ascaris Prime).
Madurai Tauron Strike Passives (requires Zara)
Unlocked after purchasing the Zara Tektolyst Bow, the Madruai Tau Strike is a room-wide nuke coming in the form of a rain of arrows with guaranteed Puncture and Blast procs (so it's even better against clumped-up crowds). Overall, this is the highest DPS Tauron Strike in Warframe from what I've seen.
The intended after-effect is an Ability Strength buff, keeping with the Madurai theme you'd expect because of Sling Strength. Plus, you also get much more mobbing via additional arrows fired randomly at enemies whenever you deal damage for the next 30 seconds.
- Thara Tauron Strike: Summon forth Thara from the Void and fire the great bow into the air, blanketing the area with a rain of explosive arrows for 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 seconds.
- Overwhelming Power: Gain +2 / 3 / 4 / 5% Ability Strength for each enemy hit by the initial Tauron Strike for 30s. Max + 20 / 30 / 40 / 50%.
- Rain of Arrows: On dealing damage, fire an arrow at an enemy with a 0.50 / 0.45 / 0.40 / 0.30s cooldown between arrows. This effect is only active for 30 seconds after a Tauron Strike.
Rain of Arrows can be empowered with two more nodes:
- Surging Storm: Increase Rain of Arrows radius to 3.5 / 4.0 / 4.5 / 5.0m.
- Downpour: Rain of Arrows will also target 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 additional enemies within 10m.
Vazarin Tauron Strike Passives (requirese Nidri)
Unlocked with the Nidri staff, the Vazarin Tauron Strike gives you an electric vortex with crowd control, status damage buff, damage distribution between controlled enemies, and for the first time ever in Warframe, a way to revive completely dead teammates.
The instant revival here works in places where you wouldn't be able to revive anyone, including Archon Hunts, Arbitration, EDA, and ETA.
- Nidri Tauron Strike: Summon forth Nidri from the Void and plant the noble staff into the ground, creating a titanic splash of water that becomes a lingering vortex for 30s. 20 / 30 / 40 / 50% of damage dealt to enemies caught in the vortex is also afflicted upon all other enemies within it.
- Rift Waters: Vortex strips enemy Overguard 10 / 15 / 20 / 25% per second.
- Eroding Rapids (requires Rift Waters): Vortex applies 25 / 50 / 75 / 100% status vulnerability to all enemies within it.
- Deathless Currents: Vortex heals allies for 100 / 150 / 200 / 250 health/s. Downed players inside the vortex will be instantly revived, and dead players will be resummoned.
- Swelling Deluge (requires Deathless Currents): Increases vortex duration to 25 / 30 / 35 / 40s.
Naramon Tauron Strike Passives (requires Vexoric)
Unlocked with Vexoric, the giant Tektolyst spirit-sword, the Naramon Tau Strike is meant for melee-weapon spammers in Warframe (to no one's surprise). With this, you get floating spectral swords that replicate your melee damage, strikes when you strike, and also charges up your next Tau Strike faster for a never-ending deathball.
It feels like it's great for a solo melee brawler playstyle, but to sweeten the deal even more, all allies in affinity range also get their own Spectral Blades when you summon them.
- Vexoric Tauron Strike: Summon forth Vexoric from the Void and swing the colossal sword, unleashing a wave of devastating energy. Gain +2 / 4 / 6 / 8 Melee Combo from each enemy hit.
- Spectral Blade: Summon 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 spectral swords that are copies of equipped melee weapon. Melee attacks will simultaneously trigger spectral attacks on any enemies within 10m. Spectral sword hits increase Combo Count and grant extra Tauron Strike Charge. Spectral swords are granted to all players in Affinity Range.
- Flowing Strikes (requires Spectral Blade): Increase the range of spectral melee attacks to 14 / 18 / 22 / 26m.
- Hungering Blade (requires Spectral Blade): Spectral weapons have a 25 / 50 / 75 / 100% chance to attack the same enemy a second time.
- Astral Cut: Tauron Strike slash size is increased by 20 / 40 / 60 / 80%.
Uniaru Tauron Strike Passives (requires Cogron)
Uniaru Tauron Strike, unlocked with the Cogron Tektolyst hammer, seems to have the most underwhelming Tau Strike Passives in Warframe. With this, you get shockwaves that generate Universal Orbs, Ammo, and pickups that temporarily grant 450 temporari armor each.
- Cogron Tau Strike: Summon forth Cogron from the Void and brandish the mighty hammer, slamming it into the ground to create a cataclysmic shockwave that ripples 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 times.
- Sundered Bounty: Shockwaves generate 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 pickups, in the form of Universal Orbs or Ammo.
- Seismic Impact (requires Sundered Bounty): Shockwaves generate 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 pickups, in the form of Universal Orbs or Ammo.
- Tempered Benison (requires Sundered Bounty): Shockwaves create 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 Armor Motes that grant +450 temporary Armor. Max 5.
- Great Quake: Increase shockwave radius by +10 / 20 / 30 / 40%.
Zenurik Tauron Strike Passives (requires Lorak)
Zenurik is the go-to School for energy economy in Warframe, so it's no wonder that the Tau Strike, unlocked through Lorak, bolster casting. Other than a bunch of Energy Orbs, this Tau Strike spawns spectral grimoires that grant Ability cast speed, Strength, Duration, and bonus Energy.
Allies only get the bonus Energy, but that's still pretty useful in an organized squad using Primary Overcharge.
- Lorak Tauron Strike: Summon forth Lorak from the Void and conjure its ruinous spells, calling forth a beam of energy from within. Enemies pierced by the beam have a 25 / 50 / 75 / 100 % chance to drop Energy Orbs if killed within 10s.
- Prismatic Beam: Enemies struck by the Tauron Strike fire off smaller beams at other enemies within 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 m.
- Spectral Pages: Create 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 spectral pages granting additional Cast speed, Ability Strength, Duration, and 100 bonus Energy per page. After the strike is used, pages appear around your Warframe. Using an ability with make one of the pages glow, and will grant its buff for the next 100 Energy's worth of ability casts. Once a page is consumed, allies in range inherit it, but only get the Energy bonus.
Spectral Pages can be buffed further with the following nodes:
- Boundless Energy: Ability Strength, Duration, and cast speed granted by spectral pages increased by 25 / 30 / 35 / 40%.
- Brilliant Insight: Spectral pages also fire off beams that blind enemies within 4 / 8 / 12 / 16 m.
At large, Madurai and Zenurik are in general the most useful and popular Focus schools. I don't expect that to change after the introduction of Tektolyst Artifacts and Tauron Strikes to Warframe, as most new passives in general stick to the school's traditional niche.
The big winner, however, is Vazarin. With the stress on limiting respawns in what DE deems late-game content in Warframe, resummoning your buddy is a premium tool to have.
Outside of that, though, it's plausible that most players beeline for the Madurai bow as their first Tektolyst Artifact purchase, while the Naramon Spectral Blade gimmick will be the sleeper hit that could enable melee-centric builds to do much more.
