During the offseason, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Alperen Sengun had a dramatic story arc, one that involved a war of words and a public reconciliation. Though the two All-Stars have settled their beef on social media, they remain incredibly competitive on the court.

On Sunday, Antetokounmpo's Milwaukee Bucks squad hosted Sengun and the Houston Rockets. Midway through the third quarter, Antetokounmpo went for a ferocious drive and Sengun attempted to protect the rim. The Greek Freak absorbed the contact and got the layup to drop while Sengun, who was called for the foul, fell to the floor. After Antetokounmpo made the shot, he looked into the TV camera and delivered a little smack talk.

"Wake me up," he said.

Antetokounmpo went on to make the bonus shot, putting the Bucks ahead 76-65. After this impactful play, however, the Rockets would outscore Milwaukee 17-9, using a balanced attack to cut the deficit.

Sengun ended up having the last laugh as the Rockets pulled off 122-115 comeback victory. The Turkish big man finished with 23 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists while Antetokounmpo put up 37 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and one block.

This Sunday showdown is the latest encounter between Antetokounmpo and Sengun, who infamously clashed after the Rockets center called out Antetokounmpo's passing abilities during the 2025 EuroBasket.

The two-time NBA MVP would fire back, asking Sengun to check his highlights on YouTube. This exchange led to their respective fanbases going at it on social media. Eventually, the extremely heated interactions caused Antetokounmpo and Sengun to bury the hatchet and remind everyone to draw the line between basketball competitiveness and personal insults.

"He's part of our family now": Giannis Antetokounmpo talks about welcoming Myles Turner to Milwaukee

Aside from being a fiery competitor, Antetokounmpo is also known to be a fiercely loyal teammate.

Last week, the Bucks superstar was asked about newly acquired center Myles Turner. Antetokounmpo made it clear that he wasted no time welcoming Turner to the squad.

"The moment he joins the team he’s part of our family now," Antetokounmpo said of Turner. "And no matter if he’s in a tough situation, we are all in a tough situation. We’re gonna have his back."

It appears that Turner is still trying to find his groove with the Bucks, as his scoring (11.2 ppg) and field goal percentage (42.9%) have gone down from last season. At the very least, he can be assured that he has Antetokounmpo's support.
