Team India stars Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant, among others, have confirmed their availability for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2025-26. They are set to represent the Delhi Senior Men's team for the tournament which is set to begin on December 24 in Bengaluru.
The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) issued an official statement on Friday, December 19, confirming that Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma, and Navdeep Saini have made themselves available. Pacer Harshit Rana, who is with the Indian T20I side currently, will also join once he is available.
Pant has been appointed as the captain for the domestic 50-over tournament. However, Kohli, Pant, Ishant, and Saini are not a part of the squad for the first two matches.
"The Committee finalised the Delhi Senior Men's Team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy for the 2025-26 domestic season. The tournament is scheduled to commence on 24th December 2025 in Bengaluru. Mr. Rishabh Pant, Mr. Virat Kohli, Mr. Ishant Sharma, and Mr. Navdeep Saini have confirmed their availability and will be part of the team. Mr. Rishabh Pant is appointed as the captain of the team. Mr. Harshit Rana shall join the squad as and when he becomes available," the statement read.Earlier, Kohli and Pant were also named in Delhi's probables for the VHT 2025-26.
Virat Kohli displayed brilliant form in the South Africa ODIs
Virat Kohli was at his absolute best in the recent ODI series against South Africa at home. He put up a consistent display and was named 'Player of the Series' for his exceptional performance. Kohli scored 302 runs from three matches at an average of 151 and a strike rate of 117.05 with two hundreds and a half-century.
In the first game, he smashed 135 runs off just 120 balls with 11 fours and seven maximums at a strike rate of 112.5. He struck consecutive hundreds, making 102 runs off just 93 balls in the second game with seven boundaries and two sixes. The third game saw him smash an unbeaten quickfire 65 off just 45 balls with six boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 144.44.
Kohli being available for Delhi, given his scintillating form, will be a huge boost for them.
