ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai is out to secure a quick finish in his scheduled kickboxing match this week and get his push for the world title back on track.

The Thai superstar battles Liu Mengyang of China in a featherweight kickboxing showdown at ONE Friday Fights 137 on Dec. 19. The contest will be the headlining match at the event happening at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

In a pre-fight interview with ONE Championship, the 26-year-old PK Saenchai Muaythaigym standout shared how he is approaching his scheduled return to action, saying:

“This fight won’t go to the scorecards. This time, fans will see a 100 percent version of Tawanchai the kickboxer. My goal is simple: I want that second belt. That drive makes me confident that I will be the kickboxing champion next year.”

Tawanchai enters ONE Friday Fights 137 with a chip on his shoulder after being clipped in his quest for the interim featherweight kickboxing belt in his last match in March. He lost by TKO in the third round to Japanese kickboxing star Masaaki Noiri.

Seeking to stop him from getting back to the winning track is Liu, an emerging force in the featherweight kickboxing lane in ONE Championship. He is coming off a convincing decision victory over Thai Shadow Singha Mawynn in September.

ONE Friday Fights 137: Tawanchai vs. Liu will be the last live event of ONE Championship before it takes a break for the new year. It is available live and free on watch.onefc.com and ONE's YouTube and Facebook pages.

Tawanchai looks to make Liu Mengyang eat his words

Tawanchai has heard what Liu Mengyang has said about him in the lead-up to ONE Friday Fights 137. He is out to make him eat his words by coming up with an emphatic win on fight night.

He shared this in an interview with the South China Morning Post, highlighting that he has prepared well and could not wait to finally touch gloves with his Chinese opponent.

Tawanchai said:

"Yes, I have trained very hard. It's getting boring [training every day], and I'm ready to fight already. I'm very happy to finally face him because he has been saying a lot of things, indicating that I was afraid of him. So I'm just waiting to show that in the ring."

Tawanchai has won two of three kickboxing matches so far in ONE Championship. He has made it known that he wants to add the kickboxing world title to the featherweight Muay Thai gold already in his possession.
