Vince McMahon was removed from WWE creative by one man. The former CEO of the sports entertainment giant first retired from his position in July 2022. He returned six months later in January 2023 and helped see through the sale to Endeavor Group Holdings.

During this time McMahon was on the board of directors, though it was believed he had no say in the promotion's creative direction. However, a report from POST Wrestling shared court filings from the ongoing WWE shareholders lawsuit, which reveal that McMahon was involved in creative plans for WrestleMania 39.

Now, a report from Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON) has shed more light on that situation. According to Dave Meltzer, even though Triple H and the WWE writing team would put together the scripts, Vince McMahon still had the final say on creative until well into 2023.

Meltzer noted that McMahon was eventually removed from creative by Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel. Still, this report contradicts the earlier claims that HHH was given full authority and Vince wasn't involved with creative.

Meltzer also mentioned that Emanuel had declared that Triple H was going to be in charge of creative, but the final decisions for much of 2025 came from McMahon.

Vince McMahon's final email to WWE board after exit

Apart from revealing Vince McMahon's role in WWE creative heading into WrestleMania 39, the court filings also shared his final email to the board.

The screenshot revealed McMahon showing his gratitude to everyone after his official exit. He wrote that he has utmost respect for everyone who put in efforts to protect the shareholder value and showed his support.

Even after his departure, McMahon's shadow continues to hang over WWE. While the Stamford-based promotion has taken efforts not to mention him often, he continues to be in the news due to his past with the company.
