San Antonio Spurs big man Victor Wembanyama has always been a fantastic player. When he was still a prospect out in Europe, the rest of the world was already anointing him as the next chosen one for the NBA. He has not disappointed because he has met all the expectations placed on him.

Defensively, he is arguably the league's most intimidating defensive presence. He has all of the tools to become the league's overall best player because he also has a deep arsenal on offense. With those skills and his overall likability, Wembanyama fits the bill for being the next face of the league.

Wembanyama knows what it takes to be the face of the league

People have gotten used to seeing LeBron James and Stephen Curry as the perfect representatives of the NBA. They not only have the personality to be the faces of the league, but they are also good enough for those roles.

Wembanyama knows that being a great player is the key to being the face of the league. Of course, marketability and charisma will probably play a role, but the Frenchman knows that basketball skills are the biggest part of being hailed as the league's biggest name.

Across All-Star Weekend, Wembanyama and fellow young superstar Anthony Edwards have fielded questions about being the face of the league. They are the top candidates for the role because they are both amazing players with big personalities that people are drawn to.

"I feel like it's something that will be natural. Obviously, social media, NBA can promote whoever they want, but at the end of the day, it's gonna be the best players and who the people ask for. Being the face of the league can be manufactured to some extent; it's only gonna be the best players," Wembanyama said after the All-Star Game.

He brings up valid points because only mega stars who have proven it on the court deserve to be hailed as the face of the league. That happened with James, Curry, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, and many more. They were at their peak during their times as the face of the league, and Wembanyama will do his best to be the best version of himself to be deserving of the tag.
