Livvy Dunne turns Spring Training into Mardi Gras party as Paul Skenes goes viral for Valentine’s post

Valentine’s Day for Livvy Dunne and Paul Skenes started forming on a Super Bowl red carpet.

During an interview with Katie Feeney ahead of the game, Dunne, without Paul, was asked about her plans, and she smiled at the thought of flipping the script.

Well, he’s going to be at spring training, so I’m going to go visit him…and I might cook him a steak for a change cuz he usually cooks for me. Chivalry is not done and I’m going to try my best.”

It was playful. But it was specific.

Skenes usually handles the grill. This year, Dunne hinted she might take her turn.

She also recently dipped briefly into his sport. In a clip shared by House of Highlights, Dunne offered a confident take.

“I think hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in sports.”

That confidence shifted once she stepped into the batter’s box during batting practice.

“First of all, it was frightening. I was frozen. I wasn’t planning on actually standing in the batter spots, but Paul’s like, ‘No, you’re doing it.’ He was passionate about it. So then I had to do it for Paul and it was really scary.”

Even elite athletes can feel small in someone else’s arena.

Then the competitor in her took over.

“Is it the hardest? No. Gymnastics is the hardest.”

By Valentine’s Day, the teasing had turned into something more tangible.

Dunne showed up at spring training with king cake dusted in purple, green and gold. A little Mardi Gras. A little LSU. A reminder of where it all started.

She may have hinted at steak night.

But Skenes appeared to make sure the holiday still included a night out.

He shared a photo of the two seated at a restaurant table, Dunne smiling across the menu in warm, low light that felt more date night than clubhouse.

Then came the softer moment.

Skenes also posted on his Instagram stories an adorable picture of Dunne with her dog Roux, captioned simply, “Valentines.”

There was no sweeping declaration, no paragraph long tribute. It felt real. A small February snapshot that said enough without saying much at all, a reminder that even in the middle of spring training and radar guns, there is still space for something softer.

Meanwhile, the reigning Cy Young Award winner already looked locked into his spring routine. The Pittsburgh Pirates shared footage from camp this week, a reminder that while Valentine’s may have included king cake and candlelight, the work of a new season is already underway.
