A WWE veteran superstar finally returned to SmackDown in a huge twist, as it came in a way that few would have expected. Of course, as is tradition with the superstar, it was also hilarious.
That superstar is the former United States Champion, R-Truth. It has been a bit of a funny year for R-Truth as WWE decided not to renew his contract with the company, only for the decision to be completely reversed and for him to be brought back as Ron Killings, a more serious version of his character. This didn't last very long, and he returned to his safe and beloved comedic relief role.
That was the role he took on SmackDown as the Motor City Machine Guns' Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin informed him that he was dressed for the wrong festival. R-Truth dressed up as Santa Claus and decided to spread the cheer anyway, just under two months before the actual Christmas.

Soon after this, he gave some Christmas goodies and went away. Solo Sikoa, the leader of the MFT, came out and confronted Shelley and Sabin, who reminded him that it was his group they beat last year to win the WWE Tag Team Championships. This was early into their run.
As for R-Truth, it seems unclear what the direction for him is going to be. It looks like he will likely take up this comedic role for the remainder of his career, after which he might just take a backstage role.
For those who aren't happy with how WWE has handled Truth since his return to SmackDown, the only thing we can say is that his role is far greater than an on-screen figure. As Jonathan Coachman, the ex-WWE personality, put it, the role that veterans like Truth have is in helping the cohesiveness of the locker room.
