After sharing the court with Caitlin Clark at Iowa and being drafted by the Las Vegas Aces, Martin was traded to the league’s newest active team, the Golden State Valkyries.

Since entering the WNBA, Martin has experienced both highs and lows. Recently, she broke down a pivotal moment during a guest appearance on WNBA legend Sue Bird’s talk show.

In a matchup against the Los Angeles Sparks—where her former Aces teammate now plays—Martin recounted the play when her shot was blocked.

“I got swatted and I actually hit the ball out of bounce because I didn’t want it to be like live,” she explained.

As she found herself on the floor, Martin said, “I turn around and none of my teammates are around and I only see one person and I see a turn.”

That turn belonged to her former Aces teammate, Kelsey Plum, who locked eyes with Martin but deliberately didn’t offer help. Martin recalled, “I just knew she wasn’t going to help me up and so I had to give her a little shoulder bump as I was running by.”
