The Vancouver Canucks are one of the most injured teams in the league, with nine players dealing with ailments.
Brock Boeser is the latest to join the Canucks’ long injury list. Boeser sustained a lower-body injury after taking a slapshot to the lower abdomen during Thursday’s game against the St. Louis Blues. He is currently considered day-to-day.
Quinn Hughes has also been out for the Canucks. He is dealing with a lower-body injury and is expected to return to the lineup on November 1. Conor Garland sustained an undisclosed injury during Tuesday’s game against the Rangers and is expected to be out until at least November 5.
Defenseman Derek Forbort and forward Teddy Blueger are dealing with undisclosed injuries; both are expected to be out until at least November 5.
Other players sidelined for the Vancouver Canucks due to injuries include Filip Chytil (upper-body), Victor Mancini (upper-body), Jonathan Lekkerimäki (undisclosed), and Nils Höglander (lower-body).
Except for Höglander (out until at least December), all players could return to the lineup in the first week of November.
Vancouver Canucks down St. Louis Blues in shootout
On Thursday, the Vancouver Canucks defeated the St. Louis Blues 4-3 in a shootout to clinch their first win on the three-game road trip.
Dylan Holloway opened the scoring for the Blues, putting them ahead 1-0 at 3:23 of the first period. Kiefer Sherwood tied it 1-1 for the Canucks with a power-play goal at 13:08.
In the second period, Jimmy Snuggerud restored the Blues’ lead to 2-1 just 58 seconds in. Sherwood netted his second of the game to tie it 2-2 before the end of the frame.
At 7:04 of the third period, Sherwood completed his hat trick to put the Canucks ahead 3-2. Pius Suter scored on the power play to tie it 3-3 at 10:48. After a scoreless overtime, Vancouver prevailed in the shootout.
The Canucks improved their record to 6-6-0. They play the Minnesota Wild next on Saturday.
