WWE legend John Cena revealed that an unsigned star breached the rules in place for his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, 2025. Cena said that while WWE had other plans, Elijah sneakily inserted himself in them.

Known in the Stamford-based promotion as Elias, the 38-year-old wrestler was seen in the front row at ringside when John Cena entered the arena. Speaking about it on Cody Rhodes’ What Do You Wanna Talk About podcast, the Never Seen 17 said that the wrestler had snuck in and wasn’t supposed to be there.

Notably, WWE plants wrestlers, executives, and celebrities in the area for certain events or matches. For Cena’s match with Gunther, his iconic rivals were present in the section, including Kurt Angle, Kevin Owens, and more. However, breaking the rules, Elias didn’t miss a chance to see Cena wrestle his final match and interact with him.

The match ended with John Cena finally tapping out for the first time in over two decades when Gunther’s sleeper hold wore everything out of him. The Franchise Player smiled before submitting, and before leaving the arena, he left his shoes and bands in the ring.

John Cena describes his favorite moment in pro wrestling

Although John Cena has enjoyed a 23-year-long career, he revealed that he came across his favorite pro wrestling moment during his farewell tour. Speaking on the same episode of What Do You Wanna Talk About, The Last Real Champion said that the pre-show of the 2025 Night of Champions sits at the top of his list.

The record-setting 17-time WWE World Champion said that the way CM Punk apologized for his 2020 remarks against Saudi Arabia at NOC and was also forgiven by the crowd made him emotional. He noted that it was a rare sight of two cultures coming together because of pro wrestling.

Cena made sure to refer to the Second City Saint with his real name, Phil Brooks, while talking about this moment. He noted that instead of his character, it was the man behind the gimmick who secured the forgiveness of Saudi Arabia that night.
