UCLA quarterback Nico Iamaleava’s injury status remains uncertain after he left Saturday night’s 48-14 loss to Washington in the third quarter.
Iamaleava went down hard on a sack by Huskies defender Bryce Butler, who dragged the five-star Tennessee transfer down to the ground.
After lying on the turf for a brief moment, Iamaleava eventually got up and walked off under his own power before heading into the blue medical tent and later the locker room.
Iamaleava had just returned from missing last week’s 48-10 loss at No. 1 Ohio State while in the concussion protocol, an injury initially sustained Nov. 8 against Nebraska.
UCLA's interim coach Tim Skipper said the team had no immediate information on whether the freshman suffered another concussion.
“Not completely sure,” Skipper told reporters after the game via ESPN. “He was talking when we went out there. He added,"We’ll get an update as we go.”
Iamaleava finished 16-of-26 for 69 yards and added 16 rushing yards. UCLA visits USC next Saturday.
