Perez Hilton reacted publicly after a troubling update about Tylor Chase, the former Ned’s Declassified actor, came to light following efforts to help him by Mighty Ducks alum Shaun Weiss and others. In a December 30 article published on his website, Hilton first addressed the disappointing nature of the update, emphasizing both concern and compassion for Chase’s well-being.
He acknowledged that the situation was not the outcome many had hoped for.
“This isn’t the Tylor Chase update any of us wanted to hear…We truly hate to hear this, but what an effort from everyone involved. We continue to wish Tylor nothing but the best and hope he gets the help he needs,” Perez Hilton wrote. In the website article, Perez Hilton further explained that many people had been closely following Tylor Chase’s situation, particularly after widespread concern emerged online.
He noted that Tylor Chase, who is now 36, became the subject of renewed attention earlier in the month when a video of him looking visibly disheveled circulated on social media. According to Hilton, former co-stars and fellow child actors quickly stepped in, with Daniel Curtis Lee and Shaun Weiss both attempting to offer assistance and resources to help Chase get back on his feet.
Hilton then provided additional details about the immediate steps taken to remove Tylor Chase from homelessness.
“Last we heard, Daniel got him a hotel room to get him off the streets, but got a call late in the night with the workers complaining that Tylor had turned it upside down,” Hilton explained.According to Hilton, the situation escalated further when a local barbershop owner, Jacob Harris, became involved.
“Following this, local barbershop owner Jacob Harris got him into a 72-hour involuntary hold with the hospital, where he was then supposed to be sent to a rehab facility… But it sounds like that didn’t pan out,” Perez Hilton added. What else did Perez Hilton say about Tylor Chase’s situation?

Hilton referenced comments made by Mighty Ducks alum Shaun Weiss, who spoke to the outlet about what went wrong after Chase was placed on a psychiatric hold.
Hilton first explained that, according to Weiss, Chase’s friends and family believed a clear plan was in place once the psychiatric hold ended. They had been under the impression that Chase would be transported directly to a detox facility arranged by those close to him.
However, Weiss said that the plan ultimately fell apart due to a communication breakdown.
“They were supposed to hold him and then transport him to a detox facility that we had arranged. Instead, they let him out without contacting any of us,” Hilton wrote, relaying Weiss’ statement.Hilton went on to recount another disturbing update shared by Weiss, explaining that Chase was later found back on the streets in Riverside “last week.” Weiss said Chase’s condition had deteriorated further, prompting another call to the crisis team.
“Shaun was told the former child star was ‘smoking meth during the evaluation with no shoes or jacket in the freezing cold.’ He was determined to be a danger to himself, but this time, the crisis team left him on the streets. So sad,” Hilton noted.Hilton also noted that Weiss had spoken about well-meaning fans who attempted to support Tylor Chase by giving him money.
While appreciative of their concern, Weiss, while speaking to the outlet, reportedly warned that such actions could unintentionally harm Chase and actively worked “against his recovery.”
According to the podcaster, Weiss admitted that he was unsure what more could be done to help the former child actor.
He had reportedly been reaching out to Riverside County officials, contacting the Screen Actors Guild, and even attempting to involve a political representative, though those efforts had so far led to “no luck.”
“Of course, Shaun previously offered Tylor a bed in Eleven 11 Recovery, which is a rehab facility he works closely with. The only issue is that the Nickelodeon star would have to agree to go, which he’s not doing. Ugh,” Perez Hilton added.Shaun Weiss shares an update on Tylor Chase via Instagram video

Weiss acknowledged that speaking publicly about Chase made him uncomfortable and felt like “violating Tylor’s privacy.” However, he explained that he decided to speak out in response to growing public concern and repeated requests for updates about Chase’s condition.
Weiss went on to explain that although resources were available, Chase could not be forced into treatment unless he personally chose to accept help. As Weiss described it, the lack of an effective system had left those trying to support Chase feeling helpless.
“Tylor has to want to go to treatment. All the resources are available to him and it’s very frustrating because there’s no system in place to help people like this. And our only option now is to watch him wither away on the street,” he explained.Weiss also highlighted the efforts of a close acquaintance, Jake, identified as Jacob Harris, who had taken it upon himself to ensure Chase’s safety.
“Jake, who everyone knows, has made it his life’s purpose to watch over Tylor to make sure nothing happens to him on the street. He’s been out there for the last week keeping an eye on him,” Weiss added.According to Weiss, Harris had contacted a mental health crisis team in California, which had evaluated Tylor Chase and determined that he needed immediate help. Weiss described the intervention as similar to a “Baker Act situation,” explaining that Chase was taken away in an ambulance and was expected to be held for several days.
However, Weiss said authorities ultimately released Chase in the middle of the night, forcing Harris to track him down once again.
He added that the crisis team was called a second time around one or two in the morning and conducted another evaluation, but despite Chase’s condition, they once again “left him on the street.”
In an Instagram video uploaded on December 29, Jacob Harris shared an update on Tylor Chase, explaining that Chase had been placed on a 36-hour medical hold. During that time, Harris said they were able to get Chase “clean, detoxed,” and physically stabilized.
He also added that a professional rehabilitation coach had flown in from Boston and that Tylor Chase’s family was also on the phone to support him.
