A star has revealed whether her WWE career is over. In the last few years, injuries and other issues have seen many superstars step away from the ring in the Stamford-based promotion and take up different roles.
One name that was let go by WWE but made a comeback in a new role is Shayna Baszler. The former two-time NXT Women's champion left the promotion in May 2025 after an eight-year stay.
However, she made her return as a producer for a match on NXT in July. She helped produce the Kelani Jordan vs. Lainey Reid match on the show. Since then, Baszler has been occasionally working as a shadow producer and a coach on the developmental brand.
Speaking on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Baszler revealed that she isn't officially hired by WWE but enjoys coaching and producing shows. She mentioned that it could turn into a full-time deal if she does the job well. When asked if it means her career as a WWE superstar is over, she kept the door open for an in-ring return.
“Never say never in this business. I mean, weirder things have happened, right? If I get over with something crazy on the Indies or something, and I get an offer. It’s a strange question, because I don’t know that I’m ever going to be someone that’s like, Yeah, I’m ready to be done. I’ll always feel like I can go,” she said. The Queen of Spades has kept herself active in the ring after leaving the sports entertainment giant. She made an appearance at Prestige Wrestling's Roseland XII and has made quite a few appearances on the independents since then.
Shayna Baszler made an appearance on WWE TV in September
After signing with the Stamford-based promotion in 2017, Shayna Baszler made her name down in NXT. She won the NXT Women's championship within months and established herself as a dominant heel on the roster.
After losing her title briefly, she regained it at the inaugral Evolution event in 2018 to become the first-ever two-time NXT Women's champion.
Recently, she made a return to her old stomping ground during the NXT Homecoming edition on September 16. She made an appearance in a backstage segment, talking to Sol Ruca and Zaria and urging them to get on the same page as a tag team.
