Tristan Peters joins incredible White Sox history with a five-game HR streak

If Chicago White Sox fans were told where their team would be at the end of August before the season began, they might've had a hard time believing it.

Sitting atop the AL Central, in a strong position for a postseason berth. But one of the most unexpected storylines would've been the breakout year from Tristan Peters. He's an All-Star who has 4.0 bWAR on August 27, and he just made some club history.

Scott Merkin of MLB.com shared that Peters, with his sixth-inning homer in the White Sox's 10-4 win over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday, August 26, joined some incredible company with a five-game home run streak.

"Peters matched the franchise record set by seven players on eight previous occasions for most consecutive games with a homer," Merkin writes.

Five straight games with a home run is an incredible feat, and something that doesn't happen very often in MLB history.

In White Sox club history, that five-game streak ties the franchise record with Munetaka Murakami earlier this year, Paul Konerko and Carlos Lee in 2017, A.J. Pierzynski in 2012, Frank Thomas twice in 1994, Ron Kittle and Greg Luzinski in 1983.

This is some incredible company for Peters to join, and what makes this such a wild feat of history for Peters is that he's not a power-hitter. He has just 12 homers in 370 big-league at-bats.

All of the players who've accomplished this feat in White Sox history have been much more prolific HR hitters during their careers.

Thomas, Konerko, Lee, and Kittle are obvious power-hitters, and Murakami is as well. Even Pierzynski had a 2.4% career home run rate, including a high of 5.2% in 2012 when he accomplished this feat.

Peters has a 3.0% home run rate, which isn't anything impressive, but isn't terrible either. Still, to hit five of his 12 home runs in five consecutive games is a wild feat for the White Sox outfielder.

The 26-year-old is having a breakout season, and this improbable five-game HR streak from Peters is another wild anecdote from a wild 2026 season for the White Sox as a team.
