The Champions League is back as PSG look to go for an historic three-peat as 36 teams enter the draw for the league phase of Europe's premier club competition.
In its third iteration of the new league format, teams now play fixtures against eight different teams; half of them home matches, the other away. Each team plays two teams from Pots 1, 2, 3 and 4 and the draw is done by a supercomputer, which automatically selects the eight opponents by one touch of a button.
Back-to-back champions PSG, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City, Inter Milan, Arsenal, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are all in Pot 1, while Manchester United and last year's Europa League champions Aston Villa are in Pot 2.

When is Champions League draw 2026/27?
The draw for the UEFA Champions League 'league phase' will be held on Thursday, August 27 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. The Europa League and Europa Conference League draw will then be held the following day.
The fixture dates and times, however, will only be revealed until a few days after the draw.
