A former champion has called out WWE today on social media ahead of the expiration of his contract. The star in question's contract with the promotion will be expiring on November 14.
Ridge Holland suffered an injury during a match against TNA star Moose on September 27. Following the injury, he was informed that the promotion would not be renewing his contract when it expires later this month, but they will be covering the costs of his surgery and physical therapy.
Holland took to social media today to note that he never thought he would struggle to pay his mortgage and that he was not happy with how the company has treated him.
"I never thought I'd not be able to pay my mortgage. I feel like I've just been hung out to dry after getting injured working for another company on behalf of WWE. Add to that my contract not being renewed knowing that I wouldn't be able to wrestle for 7 months. This is brutal. Yes they are taking care of the surgery and physical therapy but let's be honest, that's the bare minimum after what we sacrifice for the company. Plus the possibility of having to get my neck fused too. Talk about getting totally f***ed," he wrote.John Cena's last opponent leaked? Check here!
Holland never won a title during his time on WWE's main roster but is a former NXT Tag Team Champion alongside Andre Chase.
WWE accused of being heartless ahead of Ridge Holland's exit
WWE was recently accused of being heartless ahead of Ridge Holland's contract with the promotion expiring.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez labeled the promotion as heartless for not renewing Holland's contract. He noted that the company could easily afford to pay Holland while he recovered from injury.
"It’s not even a financial thing. With the amount of money they bring in, they can afford it. It’s just heartless. Do you know how many wrestlers they could employ for years on what Cena’s merch made this weekend? People are saying 90% of the crowd was wearing his shirt,” Alvarez said.
