The Toronto Blue Jays have built a really good roster with above-average arms, but could still look to make moves to reshape their roster.
I've been on record many times saying that contenders like the Blue Jays can never have enough pitching, but if they get the right return, there's always an idea of it making sense.
TJ French of Heavy.com believes the same, proposing a trade that would see Toronto move Jose Berrios in a hypothetical deal with the Atlanta Braves.
In the proposed trade, the Blue Jays would send Berrios to Atlanta in exchange for Dylan Dodd and pitching prospect Lucas Braun.
French noted that bullpen help could be a priority for the Blue Jays as they look to improve the back end of their staff.
“If there’s one thing the Blue Jays might be looking for to add to their roster it’s back-of-the-bullpen help,” French wrote.
While Dodd may not yet profile as a dominant late-inning option, he's shown enough promise to be an intriguing option. His performance last season could make him an appealing target for a team looking to deepen its bullpen.
“Dylan Dodd isn’t exactly the strongest candidate to give you high-leverage innings, but he did post a 3.60 ERA last season, which could catch the eyes of Toronto’s front office.”
Trading Berrios would be an interesting decision for the Blue Jays, considering he has been an important part of their rotation. However, if Toronto believes it has enough starting pitching depth, the organization might consider moving him to address other areas of the roster.
