The Michigan Wolverines are looking for a new head coach following their decision to fire Sherrone Moore. The job has quickly become the highest-profile one available in college football.
Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is one of the high-profile names linked to the Michigan gig. College football fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to give their two cents on the speculation.
A fan said, "Idk about this one Unc! Coach too black for Ann Arbor. I’ve been there."•

Some fans are on board with the idea of Coach Prime coaching the Wolverines.
One said, "I literally LOL'd, but yeah... Michigan should totally do that." Another added, *Aye!!! For Colorado sake i hope he don’t bail but he’s perfect for this spotlight." One chimed in, saying, "I’m not mad at this. Vibes would go through the roof and have a good young team."Deion Sanders has spent the last three seasons coaching the Colorado Buffaloes. Coach Prime has amassed a 16-21 record in Boulder, with the program playing in just one bowl game under his tenure.
However, it's important to note that Coach Prime led the Buffaloes to nine wins in the 2024 season. He achieved that by utilizing the talents of NFL-bound star Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders, and more. He'll get a steady supply of NFL-caliber talent if he accepts the Michigan Wolverines gig.
Deion Sanders, Kalen DeBoer, and Marcus Freeman are linked to the Michigan job
Deion Sanders is not the only high-profile name linked to the hottest job in college football. In fact, two coaches with national championship experience are being heavily linked.
Kalen DeBoer is preparing for a first-round game against the Oklahoma Sooners. But that hasn't stopped the rumor mill from linking him with a sensational move to Michigan just two years after replacing the legendary Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa.
Marcus Freeman is another name heavily linked with Ann Arbor. Freeman has made a name for himself during his four-season stint with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He guided Notre Dame to last year's national championship, where the Ohio State Buckeyes defeated them. Freeman is now on the Wolverines' list as a potential Sherrone Moore replacement.
There are still some talented coaches in line to be interviewed. Here's the betting odds according to Bet Online:
- Kenny Dillingham (-150)
- Jedd Fisch (+110)
- Kalen DeBoer (+550)
- Jesse Minter (+1,400)
- Biff Poggi (+2,000)
- Jeff Brohm (+3,300)
In the meantime, the Wolverines have a Citrus Bowl game versus the Texas Longhorns to prepare for. The game will occur at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, at 2 p.m. CT.
