Titans' busy free agency clears path for exciting No. 4 overall pick in Mel Kiper Jr.'s mock draft

A year ago, the Tennessee Titans drafted the face of their franchise, QB Cam Ward, with the first pick in the NFL Draft.

This time around, they're picking No. 4 overall, and they'll likely have a lot of good options available to them. It is possible, though, to read into the Titans' free agent moves and see what might happen here.

That's what ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. did in his latest mock draft on Tuesday. He takes into account the start of free agency to see how teams' choices might be impacted.

For the Titans, free agency got off to a rapid-fire start. They upgraded at most spots on the field.

One place they didn't? Running back.

That has led Kiper to mocking Jeremiyah Love to the Titans. The superstar RB out of Notre Dame is the consensus top back in this draft class.

"Here is where things get interesting," Kiper writes. "We haven't seen a running back go in the top four since Saquon Barkley (No. 2 in 2018), and the Titans certainly have a long list of issues -- even after aggressively spending in free agency last week. But Tennessee is committed to boosting the offense around second-year quarterback Cam Ward, and Love would take the run game to another level while also serving as a dynamic pass catcher. His game features 4.36 speed, excellent vision, run-you-over power and soft hands. Love would be an immediate upgrade over Tony Pollard for new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll."

Kiper has Fernando Mendoza going with the first pick to the Raiders, followed by the Jets taking edge rusher David Bailey and the Cardinals taking edge rusher Arvell Reese.

That leaves Love to the Titans if they want him.

And in this case, after a busy free agency, all they need is Love.
