Commanders, Eagles, Packers and Lions get great news from top free agent's comment

The Washington Commanders, Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions are all in need of help along the edge.

The Commanders have made a move at the position in free agency with the signing of Odafe Oweh, but with Von Miller still unsigned, more help is needed.

The Eagles, Packers and Lions have yet to make a single addition at edge rusher, which is made even more troublesome by the fact that Detroit and Philly lost Al-Quadin Muhammad and Jaelan Phillips, and Green Bay traded Rashan Gary.

One player all four teams should have an eye on is New Orleans Saints free agent, Cameron Jordan, who remains unsigned and is the top edge rusher available on the open market.

In what is good news for those teams, Jordan made it very clear he is anything but a lock to return to New Orleans, where he has spent his entire career.

“You see guys my age re-sign with a team because that’s the only team they’ve ever been with, and you’re like, ‘Hell yeah, we love that,’ but that’s to his situation,” he said on The Set Show with Terron Armstead. “That may not be to my situation. As football players, we can only control what we can control."

"As much as I be like ‘Hell yeah, I want them to love me as much as I love them.’ Sometimes the business side of that makes you feel emotional. You gotta be able to take your emotions out of it. Of course, I’d love to be in New Orleans. At the same time, if the cents doesn’t make sense, we gotta find our own path. I know what I want to do, what I want to accomplish. If that doesn’t line up, then that’s fine as well,” Jordan added.

An eight-time Pro Bowler, Jordan had a resurgent season at the age of 36 in 2025, with the veteran notching 10.5 sacks, his highest output since 2021.

It's at least somewhat surprising that Jordan hasn't found a new home yet, but we would suspect that won't be the case for much longer now that the edge rusher market in free agency has thinned out.

Jordan would be a welcomed addition for any of the four teams we just mentioned.

He can provide a stellar one-year solution at a premium spot and would give those teams time to develop a young edge rusher we would expect them to spring for in a 2026 NFL draft that has a strong class at the position.
