Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards remains one of the NBA's most electric players, thanks to his elite athleticism and scoring dynamic ability.
Before his recent setback,Edwards seems poised for another All-Star caliber season, averaging 25.7 points, four rebounds, and two assists per game, while shooting 51.9% from the field and 47.4% from the field during this early stretch. However, the start of the 2025-26 campaign has not gone as planned for Edward, who is currently sidelined with a right hamstring injury.
The team announced on Tuesday that Edwards has been cleared for on-court contact activities. According to the Athletic's Jon Krawczynski, that he he has returned to practice and and Timberwolves head coach noted that he is progressing well form the injury. When asked if he could play tomorrow vs the Knicks, Finch said “I wouldn’t be able to say at this stage. I have no idea.”
The injury occurred within the first few minutes of the Timberwolves' matchup against the Indiana Pacers. Edwards exited the game early after converting a tough layup in traffic off a fast break.
This is definitely much-needed good news for the Timberwolves, who are currently 4-3 and 3-2 without Edwards in the lineup.
They recently picked up a win over the Brooklyn Nets and will look to keep the momentum going when they head across the bridge to take on the Knicks in Madison Square Garden on Wednesday.
Julius Randle and Jaden McDaniels have been able to pick up the offensive load in Edwards' absence. Randle is currently averaging 26.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.9 assists on 55.8% from the field, but this team's success hinges on how quickly they can get their starting guard back on the court.
