Tigers' young prospect expected to make a huge jump this upcoming season

There are tons of things to be excited about if you are a Detroit Tigers fan. They are a contending team playing in a weaker division, and their farm system is great.

During the midway point last season, Detroit's farm system was ranked sixth overall. They have multiple big-name prospects that are on the verge of being key contributors at the big league level.

Kevin McGonigle is the club's top prospect, followed by Max Clark and then Jesus Briceno. However, there is one prospect outside of the top three that fans will want to get familiar with.

Tigers' young prospect expected to make a huge jump this upcoming season

One intriguing prospect that has been rising lately has been Cris Rodriguez. They signed him this past year at just 17 years old.

He is an outfielder who has a lot of upside and is one that Bleacher Report's Joel Retuer believes could have a breakout season and climb up the ranks.

"One of the top prospects in the 2025 international class, Rodriguez did not disappoint in his pro debut after securing a $3.2 million bonus from the Tigers. He hit .308/.340/.564 with 12 doubles, 10 home runs, and 39 RBI in 50 games in the DSL, and his powerful swing has drawn comparisons to Aaron Judge and Eloy Jimenez."

Rodriguez has drawn comparisons to both Aaron Judge and Eloy Jimenez for his ability to generate power in the box. Those are two big names to be linked to.

Scouts love his pitch recognition, especially for his age. However, he will have to get used to the breaking balls at the pro level.

While he has already generated some hype, he could take off this upcoming season and continue to climb the prospect rankings if he keeps developing like he is.
