Phil Mickelson is absent from competition but often shares his takes on trending matters in the US. Yesterday, he commented on social media and shared his prediction on gas prices.
On November 12, an X user, Vince for California, shared two separate images of Chevron oil meters. In the caption, the user stated that the pictures were taken in California and Arizona. The X-user further claimed that fuel prices are $2 higher in California:
"I took both these pictures yesterday one in AZ one in CA... We’re paying $2 more a gallon in California ...Left: Quartzsite, AZ 11/12/2025 Right: Roseville, CA 11/12/2025..."Phil Mickelson reposted Vince for California's X post on fuel prices and expressed his concern. The veteran golfer further predicted in his post that things were going to worsen.

In the comments, a fan asked the LIV golfer if the increased fuel prices were because of excess taxes on gasoline. Mickelson had a four-word response to the X-user:
"Some but not all"@JMColeTX Some but not all
Phil Mickelson's fans are already aware of the veteran golfer's concerns regarding California's energy policies. Numerous times, the 54-year-old Californian pro has thrown jibes at California Governor Gavin Newsom and the latter's policies on oil and gas.
When Phil Mickelson criticized policies over concerns about growing oil prices in California
On October 21, an X-user, Mike Netter, shared a demographic of oil prices throughout the United States. He claimed in the caption of his post that oil barrel prices in California were increasing despite a nationwide decrease. He wrote:
"Cost of a barrel of oil keeps dropping. The nation has seen lower prices, except for California..."Phil Mickelson quoted the X post by Mike Netter and criticized National energy policies. The golfer further claimed that California will not get investments, considering what was done to Sable Offshore Corporation. The veteran golfer wrote:
"National(Rep)energy policies are working, CA state(dem)energy policies are not. Given what was just done to Sable no one will invest into CA either. 2000 Kern county permits are also useless since no one will invest in a state that literally wrote a new law to end a company after 5 years of work and $100’s of millions spent."National(Rep)energy policies are working, CA state(dem)energy policies are not. Mickelson is a longstanding supporter of the Houston-based Sable Offshore project and voiced his support when the California Coastal Commission fined them, in addition to sending cease and desist orders. He further challenged Newsom twice for a public town hall debate to discuss the ongoing issues regarding Sable Offshore Corporation.
