"Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning. She will always be in our hearts"Tatiana Schlossberg, the daughter of Caroline Kennedy and the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, had carved out a respected career as a journalist and author, focusing largely on environmental issues. More about Tatiana Schlossberg’s career, family legacy, and a private life in public view
Tatiana Schlossberg grew up in New York City, but she never really leaned on her famous Kennedy name according to media reports. Fox News reported on December 30, 2025 that she graduated from Yale with a history degree, then headed to Oxford for a master’s in American history.
After school, she carved out a career as an environmental journalist, writing for publications including the The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, and Vanity Fair. She even wrote a book titled Inconspicuous Consumption: The Environmental Impact You Don’t Know You Have, where she reportedly took a hard look at how our daily habits affect the climate.
Even though her family was always in the spotlight, Tatiana Schlossberg mostly stayed out of it. She married George Moran, a doctor, in 2017, and they have two kids together.
Congrats to President Kennedy’s granddaughter, Tatiana Schlossberg, and George Moran who were married last weekend.
The BBC reported on December 31, 2025, that she is survived by her husband and their young children, as well as her siblings Jack Schlossberg and Rose Schlossberg. Her death adds to a long history of personal loss within the Kennedy family, a context Tatiana Schlossberg herself reflected on in some of her later writing.
At the time of press, officials hadn’t shared the cause of death yet. Still, several big outlets including Fox News and the BBC reported Tatiana Schlossberg got diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia back in May 2024.
She opened up about her experience later, writing a raw, honest essay for The New Yorker in November 2025. In it, she described what it felt like to hear that diagnosis right after having her second child, and how she faced the fear that her kids might grow up without any real memories of her. According to the BBC, she wrote,
"My first thought was that my kids, whose faces live permanently on the inside of my eyelids, wouldn't remember me"
Tatiana Schlossberg detailed undergoing chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, noting that doctors had given her a grim prognosis. She also reflected on the emotional toll her illness placed on her family, which had already endured multiple tragedies.
"For my whole life, I have tried to be good, to be a good student and a good sister and a good daughter, and to protect my mother and never make her upset or angry. Now I have added a new tragedy to her life, to our family's life, and there's nothing I can do to stop it"
Following news of her death, public figures and relatives shared tributes highlighting her compassion, intellect, and commitment to environmental journalism.
