Former India player Aakash Chopra has lauded the Indian women's team for beating Australia and reaching the Women's World Cup 2025 final. He lambasted the keyboard warriors who trolled the Women in Blue after their heartbreaking loss in the league game against England.

India beat Australia by five wickets in the second semi-final of the Women's World Cup 2025 in Navi Mumbai on Thursday, October 30. They achieved a record run chase in women's ODIs by overhauling a 339-run target with nine deliveries to spare.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, 'Aakash Chopra,' the former India opener hit out at trolls who posted insensitive memes and images after Harmanpreet Kaur and company's narrow Women's World Cup 2025 league-phase loss to England.

"One falls short of words at times. I have a question for the keyboard warriors. When we lost against England, I had put a tweet that it was heartbreaking, and actually the heart broke that day. That day, below that post, I saw many comments, which included memes and images where they were showing our Indian girls in the kitchen, saying that's their job," Chopra said. "You can criticize, but don't troll. Trolling is not okay. I am okay with you judging someone's performance, but if you tell someone that they are not worthy of it, I would say they are worthy, you are worthless. I was taken aback. If I read that and felt bad, the Indian team would have also read that," he added.

Aakash Chopra termed India's win in the Women's World Cup 2025 semi-final against Australia as their best chase in an ICC knockout game across genders. He highlighted that the Australian women hadn't lost an ODI World Cup match since 2017 and the Women in Blue's highest successful run chase in ODIs before Thursday's game was 265.

"Smriti Mandhana got out down the leg side, and your heart broke" - Aakash Chopra lauds Jemimah Rodrigues' century in Women's World Cup 2025 semi-final

In the same video, Aakash Chopra noted that India didn't get off to a good start, including losing the in-form Smriti Mandhana's wicket, before Jemimah Rodrigues stitched together a crucial partnership with Harmanpreet Kaur.

"The opening partnership wasn't good. Pratika Rawal wasn't there and Shafali Verma didn't fire. Smriti Mandhana got out down the leg side, and your heart broke, that it wouldn't happen. Jemi was sent at No. 3, and then there was a partnership," he said.

The cricketer-turned-commentator praised Rodrigues for scoring a match-winning century, highlighting that she wasn't picked for the previous World Cup and suffered a few setbacks at the start of the current edition..

"When we lost the final in 2017, Jemi had gone to the airport to receive the team. She was dropped from the 2022 World Cup. She started this tournament with a duck. After that, she was dropped as well. She said she was crying throughout this tour. She was anxious. You are fighting yourself every day. Then she scores a century. She was there right till the end," Chopra observed.

Jemimah Rodrigues scored an unbeaten 127 off 134 deliveries in the Women's World Cup 2025 semi-final against Australia. She added 167 runs for the third wicket with Harmanpreet Kaur, with the Indian captain contributing an 88-ball 89.
