There might be a logical explanation for Broncos' offensive struggles in 2025

Though the Denver Broncos are 8-2 and have one of the best records in the AFC, headlines were dominated by the poor play of their offense following their 10-7 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night.

Despite the win, talking heads in the media discussed the Broncos setting back offensive football to the "dark ages". It was debated back and forth how good the Broncos actually are due to that offense and then there was this tweet from ESPN analyst Ryan Clark.

1 thing for sure this year. You will not beat Denver in an a*s football game! If the game is cheeks they are getting the W.

There is no doubt that the Broncos have struggled offensively, but there is nothing in the standings that talks about how a team won or lost, just that it won or lost. But there is one key statistic to keep in mind when discussing this Broncos offense.

During their seven-game winning streak, the Broncos have played seven games in the last 39 days. That is a stretch that is nearly unprecedented, as across history, only two other teams have played that many games in such a short time frame: the 2021 Green Bay Packers and the 1973 Miami Dolphins

Could it be that this offense is suffering from some fatigue?

Keep in mind, the Broncos wanted it this way. Sean Payton and George Paton actually lobbied the league not to give the team a bye following the Week 6 game against the New York Jets, which was played in London. Usually, a team receives its bye after playing in an international game, but the Broncos wanted it to come later, and later is nearly here.

The Broncos will have their bye in Week 12 following their game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Having played on Thursday Night Football, the Broncos will have a bit of a mini-bye, getting 10 days to prepare for the Chiefs. That means that in the next 23 days, the Broncos will play just one game.

While the media and other fanbases trash the Broncos' offense, is it possible that things are playing right into Payton's hands?

The team has time to get healthy and get the offense moving. While the performance against the Raiders was bad and the team has had other offensive duds, such as that London game against the Jets or Week 1 against the Titans. However, that same offense dropped 44 points on the Cowboys and scored 33 points in one quarter against the Giants

The Broncos are on a roll right now, and the next 23-day stretch, where they will play only one game, could be just what the doctor ordered for the remainder of this season.
