The Islanders just ran a monthlong search for a new general manager.
Now they have to decide whether to follow that up with a search for a new head coach.
At the start of the process, it was made clear that coach Patrick Roy, as well as the rest of the club’s hockey operations staff, would need to interview for their jobs with the new GM once one was hired.
So the stage is set for Mathieu Darche’s first big decision after the 48-year-old was given the job Friday.
